Supergirl Sneak Peek by Craig Kerbrat

Happy Saturday! I say that in hopes that this day will improve. Not that it's a bad day necessarily. I'm just suffering from mega allergies and I don't like it. Anyway.

Because I'm a giant nerd, I felt like I needed to nerd out a bit about the special sneak peek for Supergirl that came out earlier this week. If you haven't seen it yet, here it is. Watch it. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Done? Okay, good. I'm not gonna lie, for some reason, this trailer got me a little bit emotional. I'm not really sure why. Maybe it's 'cause I'm feeling a bit sick, or maybe it's just 'cause it's that awesome. In any case, I am very excited for this show to be released in the fall. I hope there's a panel for it at Comic-Con this year...

And let's talk about the casting! Melissa Benoist is adorable as Kara. She's not who I would have initially thought to cast in the role, but she really seems perfect for it. And I love that Chyler Leigh, who played Lexie Grey in Grey's Anatomy, is playing Alex Danvers. I always loved her on Grey's, so hopefully I'll love her in this show too.  And Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant! Very exciting. Not to mention Helen Slater and Dean Cain as mommy and daddy Danvers. I can't wait!

It's funny, I am a diehard Marvel fan, but DC characters make for such great TV shows. I always loved Smallville when it was on the air, and the old Lois & Clark show was great. Gotham, Arrow, and the Flash are all great, and Legends of Tomorrow looks to be a lot of fun as well. So many awesome DC properties have been very successful on TV. So I really hope Supergirl is as good as it looks.

Anyway. There are plenty of other things I could probably talk about, but I feel my mind wandering so I'm going to leave it here. I think it's time to finally watch the season finale of Arrow...

Andrea Challenge: BSG Edition - Season Three by Craig Kerbrat

It's time for the third update in the challenge I took up to watch Battlestar Galactica. Last night I watched the season three finale, and it was kind of epic. I'm looking forward to starting the next season, but first, I've gotta get this update done.

So much happened in this season. The previous season ended with things in a pretty bad place, and it definitely got worse before it got better. The Cylon occupation of New Caprica really didn't go well for the humans or the Cylons, and it was over pretty quickly, but it left a lot of scars that were still healing right through to the finale of season three.

I had a hard time with Apollo and Starbuck this season. Both seemed to be on very self-destructive paths, and I kind of hated them both. I did enjoy Athena and Helo's storylines, and them getting Hera back. Colonel Tigh was mostly annoying, but I feel like that's what he's supposed to be. The Chief and Cally are always good. And the flirting between Adama and President Roslin was a lot of fun, but nothing ever seems to happen!

The focus on the Cylons, and Baltar as their captive/ally was interesting. And the development of Caprica Six and her connections to Athena and Roslin at the end was interesting. D'Anna was mostly just odd, but I liked her exploration into the spirit world of the Cylons. But the trial of Baltar mostly just made me angry. Everyone really threw him under the bus, and it was kind of frustrating to watch. He's not a good guy, but he was definitely being punished for things he hadn't done. But he got off in the end, so that's good I guess.

Anyway, the season was up and down for me. Lots happened. But the finale. Oh man, the finale!  Some major stuff happened in the last bit. Four of the final five Cylons were revealed, and I did NOT see that coming. And then Kara Thrace shows up alive and well claiming to have been to Earth after her apparent demise a few episodes earlier. Man! This show knows how to do season finales! I'm just glad I don't have to wait months for the season premiere. I can just continue on where I left off.

And that's exactly what I'm going to do! Let's see how long it takes to power through the final season!

Andrea Challenge: BSG Edition - Season Two by Craig Kerbrat

Earlier this week I finished watching season two of Battlestar Galactica, so that means I've hit the second milestone in the first challenge set for me by my good friend Andrea.

If you read my first update after I finished season one, you'll know that I was feeling a bit let down by the show after hearing so much hype about it for so long. But after watching the second season, I'm starting to get it. Really, right from the start of the season, I knew the show was taking a turn in the right direction. Things were happening, questions were being answered, and this world was finally opening up.

I have to say, I'm completely hooked by the show now. And I'm a little bit worried because I know there are only two seasons left. I'm pretty much halfway through. And it's always so sad when a great show ends. I can only hope that this show has a good ending. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

I am very curious about the mythology of the show. I want to know more about the history of the colonies. And the future of mankind. I want to know what the Cylons are planning. And how Baltar and Six are linked. Why do they both have imaginary versions of the other in their heads? Who are the Gods? And the "one true God"? So many questions.

I'm also curious what's going to happen with all of the characters. Especially, again, with the way the season ended. The people on Caprica are rescued, but Roslin loses the election to Baltar, and then it looks like half the fleet explodes in a nuclear explosion. Then we jump a year in the future and some people are living on New Caprica, Baltar is a terrible president, and Adama has a moustache! It's crazy town. And then the Cylons show up, the fleet runs away, the New Capricans are in trouble, and the episode ends. It was a lot to take in.

I haven't started season three yet 'cause I wanted to make sure I put down my thoughts about season two first before I blurred the lines between the seasons. I'm excited to pick it up again and see what's going to happen. Most of the show's cast is currently surrounded by Cylons so I want to know how they get out of that. But I really want to know more about Helo and Sharon II's baby. And I hope Sharon II finally gets out of captivity. I really like her character and I want to see her be more than just a prisoner.

Anyway, I think that's about all I've got to say right now. So I think I'll end this so I can go watch more BSG.
