Sunday Update by Craig Kerbrat

Well, this is the second time I'm doing this post, 'cause my draft randomly vanished, so hopefully I don't forget anything. It's Sunday again, so that means work tomorrow, but it also means I got to enjoy brunch this morning, Game of Thrones and the season finale of Once Upon a Time and the series finale of Revenge are all coming up this evening, and it also means that it's time for my weekly fitness update! Here goes.

May 3-9

  • Workouts: 2
  • 10000 Steps: 7
  • Steps Streak: 21
  • Top Steps: 13599
  • Starting Weight: 79.0 kg
  • Ending Weight: 78.6 kg
  • Change: -0.4 kg
  • Total Change: +0.2 kg

First thing I wanted to talk about is my daily steps count. I've managed to keep my streak going for 21 days now, which is pretty great. The other cool thing about this is that this past week I actually had four days with steps over 13000. It's kind of awesome for me. I'm thinking about raising my daily step goal, but I still tend to struggle on weekends getting the 10000, so I'm going to leave things how they are for now.

On the workout front, I've managed to keep things going at the same pace. I added some squats and burpees in to my second workout this week again, and I still really don't like the burpees. They're kind of exhausting, but that's probably a good sign.  I didn't do as many this time, 'cause I added them on to the end of my workout and I ran out of time, so I didn't feel the burn quite so bad in the days afterwards. So I'm going to double down on that and make sure I get the best out of my workouts.

Otherwise, there's not much else to report. I'm still fluctuating around the same weight. I know I need to get in more cardio to help with that, and probably the burpees will help with that too. If only because they make me want to puke. But I'll need to start doing something else soon.

I went for a walk in Burnaby Lake Park yesterday, which is always a beautiful place to get in my daily steps. But I also saw a couple of geese with their goslings hanging out, so I'm gonna leave you with a picture of the cuteness. Have a great week!

This was the best picture I got, mainly because I didn't want to get too close and scare them away/make mommy mad.

Another Good Week by Craig Kerbrat

Alright! It's Sunday morning, I'm getting ready to head out for brunch, so that means it's time for my weekly fitness check-in again! It was a good week for me, so let's get on with it.

April 26-May 2

  • Workouts: 2
  • 10000 Steps: 7
  • Steps Streak: 14
  • Top Steps: 17671
  • Starting Weight: 78.7 kg
  • Ending Weight: 79.0 kg
  • Change: +0.3 kg
  • Total Change: +0.6 kg

So I got in my workouts as usual. The second workout of the week killed me a little more than usual 'cause I decided to throw in some squats and burpees. The squats were fine at the time, although my legs have been feeling it since. The burpees. Wow. I definitely thought I was gonna puke after doing a quick set of those. They probably also contributed to the leg pain. But it's all good! That's the first time in a while that I've been significantly sore after a workout, which means I hit new muscles!

I also managed to keep my steps going, and have now hit a 14-day streak, which is kind of awesome. And I finished the week with a 17671 step day. I walked to the comic shop nearby yesterday for Free Comic Book Day, but I got there 20 minutes early so I just kept walking. By the time I got home just after noon I had already just about hit my 10000 step goal, and then it was a busy day afterwards so I zipped way past it.

This week I'm going to try to repeat last week. Burpees and all. And it's finally getting light out when I get up early so it might be time to throw in some run training. I'm not promising anything though, 'cause the squats and burpees really kind of kill the legs and make it pretty much unthinkable to go for a run afterwards. But I'll get my legs in shape and then it won't be a problem!

I've noticed I'm not really keeping up with my blog lately, apart from my fitness updates. I'm going to try to fix that. I just saw Avengers: Age of Ultron last night, so I'm going to need to talk about that. And Comic-Con is getting closer and closer and I'd really like to get out my thoughts and excitement on that. So hopefully more posts coming soon!

And that's all I've got! Have a great week!

On A Roll by Craig Kerbrat

Alrighty! Time to check in! It's pretty late in the day due to a fairly busy Sunday helping my good friend Andrea move into her new place. There were a bunch of nerds there to help, so it went pretty quick, but I might also count it as an extra workout for this week... Maybe... We'll see. Anyway! Let's get to the point!

February 22-28

  • Workouts: 2
  • 10000 Steps: 7
  • Steps Streak: 14
  • Top Steps: 13086
  • Starting Weight: 79.0 kg
  • Ending Weight: 78.9 kg
  • Change: -0.1 kg
  • Total Change: +0.5 kg

It was a pretty average week overall. I kept up with my two weekly workouts. Haven't started up with the running yet, but it's on my radar. Stuck to my usual mix of exercises with and without weights, and cardio with the stationary bike. Changed it up and used the elliptical for a bit the one day.

My favourite part of this week is that I kept up my steps streak! Got my 14 day streak notification yesterday so I'm pretty excited. I'm on a roll, and I want to keep that up.

For this week, I'm just going to work on keeping things going. We're into a new month, and maybe that means I should be taking things up a notch, but I'm not really feeling like I'm ready to push myself any harder yet, so I'm just going to keep with what I'm doing. I don't really want to push myself too hard and then get discouraged if I fail. It's all about incremental improvements.

The other change that I really need to make, but is going to be really hard for me, is cutting down on sugar. I had done pretty well with cutting back over the years by cutting out pop and trying to avoid too many sweet snacks. But between the occasional Starbucks and my free coffee+hot chocolate every day at work, and my after-meals sweet tooth, I think it's getting a bit out of hand again. I'm really going to have to figure out a way to ease myself off of the sugar again, and that might help with my weight loss goals.

And with that, I don't have anything else to say! Enjoy your Sunday!

I'm on a roll!
