Welcome to my Sunday Fitness Update post where I talk about my successes and setbacks from the prior week. Here we go. 

June 21-27

So, I had all these plans to turn things around this week, and I even got a good start with the gym on Monday, but after that my willpower and momentum just kind of fizzled... I missed my second workout and didn't go running at all. I keep telling myself that I'll go to bed earlier and make things easier on myself, but with these long hot summer days it's just not that easy. 

I did push myself to go for a walk last night to keep my steps streak going. I was at just under 7000 steps at 10pm last night, and I almost just went to bed. But I really wanted to keep this streak alive, so I went for a quick walk around the neighbourhood, got my steps, and now that's 10 weeks in a row with 10000 steps every day.

I want to say this week is going to go better than the last few, but with the forecast for the next week I really don't know if I'm going to want to be doing anything overly active. I'll try, 'cause the gym is usually cool, but it's more a matter of making myself get out of bed. 

Anyway, it's the last week before we take off to Comic-Con, so I will definitely try to make it count. I know that Comic-Con week will be easy for steps, but I'm probably not going to get in any running or working out. I'll be a little busy, I'm sure. I'm going to try to make this week a good one, and I'll see you next Sunday with my report.

I've been really struggling with my fitness goals lately. There are a lot of excuses I can throw at you: It's too warm to run or work out; I've been too tired to get up early in the morning; Work meetings have been getting in the way in the morning.  But that's all they are: excuses. If I was really motivated, I'd go to bed early to get enough sleep, get up early to avoid the heat, and just do it.

The one bright side is that I am always moving so I've kept up my steps streak. I do have that to feel good about. I really need to set myself a proper bedtime so I can start getting serious about this fitness thing again. It's not like I have lofty goals of running marathons or entering body builder competitions. I just want to stay healthy... and look good with my shirt off.

Anyway, that's all I've got for today. There's a busy Sunday ahead, I'm going to spend the day with some fun people at Car Free Day on Main Street followed by margaritas and guacamole, so it's time to get up and get moving. Have an awesome Sunday, and a great week!

Alrighty. It's Sunday again, so it's time for my weekly fitness update. Here goes. 

June 7-13

This week did not go as planned. I thought I was off to a good start. I got up early on Monday and went to the gym, step one complete! But then I went to work, and on the way there I was over heating, and by the time I got to work I was not feeling well at all. I lasted about an hour and a half and then headed right back home. And that really threw off my week.

It took me a couple days to feel back at 100%, but the momentum was gone and I just never got it together. So I only ended up with the one workout and I never picked up my running shoes. I did keep up my steps, but very narrowly a couple of the days.

So this week I really need to get it together. The two workouts should happen, and I'm going to try to get out running as well. I've got to get back my momentum and keep it up.

Fitness Comeback by Craig Kerbrat

It's Sunday! And what a Sunday! It's sunny and beautiful out, I got to have brunch with Rob and our friends, bought some new shorts at Old Navy, and just grabbed some groceries for the week. It's definitely going to be a barbecuing week with all of this sunshine. Anyway, let's get to the main event!

So this week I finally got back on track with my workouts. I got up on Tuesday and Friday mornings and did my thing, so I feel better about my fitness efforts. I also found an evil ab workout on YouTube that I gave my best effort. The workout is supposed to take 5 minutes, but I did it in about 15. And I cut out a bit of it. So that's something to work on for this week.

I also finally went for a run last Sunday, so that was good. I started over with week one of Zombies, Run! 5k Training. It's a very easy week, but the last time I ran was last summer so I really need to start back at the beginning. I had the intention of running at least once more last week, but it didn't end up happening.  So my goal is to go running at least twice this week.

Otherwise, I don't have much to say. It was a good week and I plan to keep it up. Enjoy your Sunday, and have a great week!

So, as the title suggests, I'm in a bit of a slump. Once again I only got in one workout for the week. I tried to get up for the gym a second time later and the week and was just too tired. I know that I need to start getting to bed earlier on night I'm going to get up for the gym, but there's always some reason to stay up late. I need to fix that.

I've been doing really will with getting my steps it. This week wasn't a struggle at all, and most days I beat my goal by a lot. And while this is great, I do know that I need to step it up. Not necessarily with the number of steps, but with the effort put into them. If all my steps are just from leisurely walks, then I'm not really getting the exercise I need. I need to make sure I get the heart pumping with my daily activities.

I think I need to stop putting it off and start my run training again. I keep thinking to myself that it's not a good time 'cause my allergies have been so bad lately, but in actuality they are worse when I'm sitting around doing nothing than when I'm out and about and moving. So I am going to make my first attempt in a while at running later this afternoon. And then I'll just need to keep up the momentum.

And I think that's about all I've got to say on the matter for this week. It's a beautiful weekend and it's time to get back out there and enjoying it!

Fitness vs. Laziness by Craig Kerbrat

It's fitness update time! My weekly blog post about my fitness triumphs and follies to keep me accountable. It was an okay week this week, so let's get started!

So, I didn't get my second workout again. I really need to fix that. With the long weekend last weekend I was lazy on Monday so I did my workout on Tuesday instead. And then when it came to Friday when I should have done my second workout, I just really didn't want to, sooo I didn't. Laziness won.

Aaaand I just picked this up after forgetting about it for twelve hours. I'm sure I had an idea of where I was going to go next with this, but I have absolutely no idea now. Huh... 

i was probably going to mention that I did keep my steps streak going and I'm now at 35 days in a row getting the minimum 10000 steps. Some days are more difficult than others and involve going for a walk after dinner. Other days I nearly double my goal. So it's pretty random. 

i think I'm going to leave it here. I'm all annoyed 'cause I forgot to put my laundry in the dryer and the strata bylaws say I can't run the dryer after 10pm, sooo I'll have to redo my laundry tomorrow. Going to bed annoyed is never a good idea so I'm hoping venting right now will help me get over it so I can sleep and get up early for the gym tomorrow. Here's hoping! 

Okay, I'll add that it was a pretty great Sunday prior to the laundry incident. I got to have brunch with Rob and our friends this morning, and I went to VanCAF with Andrea this afternoon where I got to meet my favourite webcomic creator, Jeph Jacques, again. So it's been a good day and there's no reason to be in a bad mood. Bright sides.

Fitness Wobble by Craig Kerbrat

Hello! Welcome to Sunday! And it's the Sunday of a long weekend so we're only halfway! I'm taking this weekend to relax and recharge, but still trying to keep up with my fitness goals. Anyway, here's my update for last week!

May 10-16

Soooo... I didn't get in my second workout of the week. I wasn't feeling great most of the week, so I ended up just sleeping in when I could and wrote off the second workout. I will make sure to get both in this week. I just needed a little break.

My steps have kept up, though. I'm at a 28-day streak for getting my 10000 steps in, and I'm hoping to keep that up. I didn't have as many over-and-above days this past week, but I made sure I hit my goal every day. I had to make sure I got one thing right this week. 

I'm also back down to my original weight when I started all of this. Not that I was ever above by much. It's always been within about a kilogram of where I started. The weather has gotten way better lately, which means I'm more likely to want to go out for a walk/hike/run, so here's hoping more cardio helps me make my weight goals happen.

Sunday Update by Craig Kerbrat

Well, this is the second time I'm doing this post, 'cause my draft randomly vanished, so hopefully I don't forget anything. It's Sunday again, so that means work tomorrow, but it also means I got to enjoy brunch this morning, Game of Thrones and the season finale of Once Upon a Time and the series finale of Revenge are all coming up this evening, and it also means that it's time for my weekly fitness update! Here goes.

May 3-9

First thing I wanted to talk about is my daily steps count. I've managed to keep my streak going for 21 days now, which is pretty great. The other cool thing about this is that this past week I actually had four days with steps over 13000. It's kind of awesome for me. I'm thinking about raising my daily step goal, but I still tend to struggle on weekends getting the 10000, so I'm going to leave things how they are for now.

On the workout front, I've managed to keep things going at the same pace. I added some squats and burpees in to my second workout this week again, and I still really don't like the burpees. They're kind of exhausting, but that's probably a good sign.  I didn't do as many this time, 'cause I added them on to the end of my workout and I ran out of time, so I didn't feel the burn quite so bad in the days afterwards. So I'm going to double down on that and make sure I get the best out of my workouts.

Otherwise, there's not much else to report. I'm still fluctuating around the same weight. I know I need to get in more cardio to help with that, and probably the burpees will help with that too. If only because they make me want to puke. But I'll need to start doing something else soon. 

I went for a walk in Burnaby Lake Park yesterday, which is always a beautiful place to get in my daily steps. But I also saw a couple of geese with their goslings hanging out, so I'm gonna leave you with a picture of the cuteness. Have a great week!
